Contact Lenses Prescription & Exam

When you need contacts or glasses to go about your day, it’s important to make sure they meet all your vision needs. For those with more serious eye conditions, it can be difficult to find the right prescription. Dr. Corey J. Miller provides prescriptions for contacts and glasses for patients across the area. Call us today at (801) 277-1087 to schedule an exam.

Gas Permeable (GP) Lenses

If you’re willing to trade instant comfort for sharper vision, gas permeable lenses may be for you. These lenses are comfortable for experienced users, but they take some time for newcomers. Gas permeable lenses are more rigid lenses made of durable plastic that allows essential oxygen in and out around your eyes. Your cornea needs a regular intake of oxygen to stay healthy, so these newer models have been designed to be more comfortable and breathable than old school hard contacts. Any discomfort users experience comes from that rigidity, but GP lenses fit closer to your eye, are more durable and leave fewer deposits than soft contacts. GP lenses are good for those with astigmatism, irregular corneas and keratoconus. At Mountain States Eye Center, we conduct exams and prescribe GP lenses to our patients. Call us today to learn more about gas permeable lenses if you think they’re right for you.

Soft contact lenses

Soft contacts are the most popular type of contacts on the market today. Made of soft, flexible and breathable plastic, these contacts adjust easily and are often more comfortable. However, soft contacts don’t provide patients with the sharpness GP lenses offer. Soft contacts work well for those with near or far-sightedness or astigmatism. Dr. Miller and staff can help choose the best contact lens for a patient by conducting comprehensive eye exams, considering the patient’s vision prescription, lifestyle, and preferences, and providing expert guidance on the available options.
