Eye Health Services Offered
Our experienced eye doctor provides comprehensive, general eye exams for each of our patients. During your eye appointment, an array of tests will be completed, such as looking at visual acuity, refraction and checking for potential diseases. Below is a simple summary of some of the services we can offer patients in Salt Lake City:
- Cataract Procedures: Cataracts is a condition that affects more than half of all American over 65 and occurs when your eye’s natural lens becomes clouded. Surgery involves breaking up and suctioning out the cloudy lens that’s impairing your vision and replacing it with a new, artificial lens. Our eye doctor has performed thousands upon thousands of cataract surgeries and would love the opportunity to help you see better.
- LASIK Eye Surgery: LASIK surgery is a common surgery for vision correction, involving a femtosecond laser that cuts a small flap in the cornea to access the tissue underneath. The tissue is reshaped with an excimer laser and the corneal flap is replaced. An eye exam can determine if you’re a good candidate for this extremely safe and common procedure used to eliminate near-sightedness (myopia), far-sightedness (hyperopia), or astigmatism.
- Photorefractive keratectomy (PRK): This treatment is similar to LASIK, but instead of a flap being created, the front surface cells of the eye are gently brushed off. Then, the tissue is reshaped with the same excimer laser used in LASIK. Make an eye appointment to speak with our specialist and see if this is a good option for you.
- Corneal Transplants: When a patient’s cornea becomes cloudy or misshapen, eye doctors will recommend a corneal transplant. A traditional transplant includes replacing the whole damaged cornea with a healthy one from a human donor. For certain conditions, like Fuchs corneal dystrophy or pseudophakic bullous keratopathy (swelling after cataract surgery), we can do a partial thickness transplant (DMEK) and replace only the back layer.
